Cryogenics Advisor – Jet & Cryogenic Engines Division
Location: Pune, India / Remote Advisory
Scope of Work
We are seeking a highly experienced Cryogenics Advisor to guide our next-generation propulsion programs, spanning both combat jet engines and cryogenic rocket engines. The role focuses on knowledge transfer, systems-level optimization, thermal architecture review, and mentoring of internal engineering teams across cryogenic storage, turbomachinery, and regenerative cooling domains.
Nature of Work
- Provide advisory input on design and testing of cryogenic pumps and turbopumps for liquid hydrogen and methane
- Assist in defining thermal management strategies for fuel systems and regenerative engine cooling
- Review insulation, chilldown procedures, and material compatibility for long-duration missions
- Advise on cryo-rated instrumentation and real-time diagnostics under vacuum/space conditions
- Collaborate with the engine team on integration of cryogenic systems with jet engine combustion systems for hybrid configurations
- Support review of testbed infrastructure including vacuum chambers and cryogenic safety protocols
- Mentor young engineers in applied cryogenic technologies and career development
Job Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.Tech in Cryogenics, Thermal Sciences, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering
- 15+ years of experience in cryogenic propulsion systems or spaceflight applications
- Prior involvement in programs such as ISRO’s cryo stages, upper-stage engines, or foreign equivalents (e.g., RL10, Vinci, LE-5B)
- Familiarity with cryo-fluid dynamics, cavitation control, turbopump design, and tank pressurization systems
- Strong theoretical foundation and ability to guide real-world implementation in test environments
- Excellent communication and mentorship abilities

- Retired experts from ISRO, DRDO, or international aerospace organizations are encouraged
- Open to part-time, remote, or visiting appointments
