Turbomachinery Expert – Jet & Cryogenic Engines (Advisory Role)

Scope of Work
As a Turbomachinery Expert, you will guide critical design and validation efforts for high-performance turbomachinery systems used in both next-generation combat jet engines and cryogenic rocket propulsion. Your insights will support our in-house teams in navigating technical challenges in rotating machinery, component integration, thermal management, and high-speed performance optimization.
This role requires strategic thinking, deep technical experience, and an understanding of mission-driven engineering in both aerospace propulsion and cryogenics. Your mentorship will directly impact our indigenous development capabilities and support India's defense and space ambitions.
Nature of Work
- Technical advisory on design of compressors, turbines, pumps, and power turbines
- Review of aerodynamic and thermomechanical design methodologies
- Support in selecting blade profiles, tip-clearance strategies, and casing treatments
- Evaluation of rotor-dynamics, vibration, and fatigue life enhancement strategies
- Assistance in reviewing CFD/FEA results and guiding model refinements
- Support in testbed setup design and validation planning (DO-160/DEF-STAN/NASA equivalent)
- Mentoring junior engineers and participating in high-level design reviews
Job Requirements
- M.E./M.Tech or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Turbomachinery Engineering
- 15+ years of experience in jet engine or cryogenic turbomachinery design (military or space)
- Proven background in high-speed rotating machinery design and analysis
- Familiarity with standards like MIL-E-5007, ARP 5600, or ISRO/ESA practices
- Hands-on experience with CFD, CHT, and thermal-fatigue assessment tools
- Knowledge of advanced materials and cooling strategies for extreme environments
- Experience in low-bypass, high-thrust turbofans and/or cryogenic turbo-pumps
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and review leadership
