DFAM Engineer – Combat Jet & Cryogenic Engines
Location: Pune, India (On-site with Hybrid Flexibility)
Scope of Work
As a DFAM (Design for Additive Manufacturing) Engineer, you will play a critical role in enabling next-generation propulsion components for high-performance combat jet and cryogenic rocket engines. You will focus on leveraging additive manufacturing technologies to reduce component weight, simplify assemblies, and enable thermal and flow advantages that are otherwise impossible through traditional manufacturing.
Nature of Work
- Design and optimization of engine components for additive manufacturing (LPBF, DED, EBM, etc.)
- Close collaboration with blade, combustor, and nozzle designers to integrate DFAM from concept stage
- Topology optimization and lattice structure generation using tools like nTopology, Altair Inspire, or Fusion 360
- Material-aware design with consideration of thermal gradients, build orientation, and printability
- Creation of manufacturing-ready CAD models and support structures
- Interfacing with in-house and vendor-based metal AM facilities for process selection and iteration
- Validation through simulation: thermal/mechanical FEA and CFD-based flow path verification
- Post-processing consideration (HIP, stress relief, surface treatments) in design workflow
Job Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Additive Manufacturing Engineering
- 2–5 years of experience in DFAM or advanced CAD design for aerospace components
- Expertise in CAD tools like Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA with additive extensions
- Familiarity with AM design platforms like nTopology, ANSYS Additive, or Materialise
- Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, stress analysis, and flow path design
- Experience working with metal 3D printing technologies and their constraints
- Prior exposure to engine components like turbine blades, injectors, or nozzles is a plus
- Good team collaboration, documentation, and communication skills
Eligibility
- Indian citizens or eligible residents with legal work authorization
- Innovators passionate about indigenous aerospace and propulsion technology
- Candidates with AM certifications or published DFAM research preferred
