Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and visionary Aerodynamicist to join our cutting-edge propulsion team. You will play a pivotal role in designing and validating aerodynamic systems for combat jet engines and cryogenic upper stage rocket engines. This role blends core fluid dynamics with high-performance hardware design and simulation to achieve world-class thrust, efficiency, and stability.

Scope of Work

  • Conduct CFD simulations for supersonic and hypersonic flow regimes.
  • Design and optimize compressor blades, turbines, nozzles, and diffusers.
  • Develop aerodynamic surfaces and cooling flow paths for cryogenic turbopumps.
  • Validate design using wind tunnel and static test data.
  • Collaborate with thermal, structural, and propulsion teams for integrated performance.
  • Develop control surface characteristics for maneuverability and stability enhancement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years experience in jet propulsion or rocket engine aerodynamics.
  • Proficiency in CFD tools like ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, etc.
  • Strong grasp of compressible flow, turbulence modeling, and shockwave behavior.
  • Experience with cryogenic flow systems and liquid hydrogen/oxygen engines is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Python or MATLAB scripting for post-processing and automation.
  • Knowledge of materials interaction with high-velocity flows (erosion, ablation, etc.).
  • Familiarity with AVL, Siemens NX, CATIA for geometry optimization.
  • Good documentation and presentation skills for reviews and reports.

Nature of Work

This is a high-impact, cross-disciplinary role where you will be responsible for pushing aerodynamic performance boundaries. You will work on highly confidential propulsion projects intended for high-thrust jet engines and cryogenic propulsion systems for orbital and interplanetary missions. Your role will blend deep technical problem solving with hands-on test validation and rapid iteration.
