CFD Engineer
Location: Pune, India (Onsite)
Scope of Work
- Develop and run CFD simulations for internal and external flows (subsonic to hypersonic regimes).
- Analyze aerothermal loads on spacecraft, nozzles, ducts, and inlets.
- Validate simulation results with experimental or flight data.
- Contribute to aerodynamic shape optimization and TPS (thermal protection system) design.
- Collaborate with structural, propulsion, and thermal teams to integrate CFD data into multi-physics models.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain computational meshes using tools like Pointwise, ANSYS Meshing, or snappyHexMesh.
- Configure simulation solvers such as Ansys Fluent, Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or SU2.
- Perform steady-state and transient simulations including compressible, multiphase, and reacting flows.
- Conduct sensitivity analysis and design-of-experiments (DoE).
- Document and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Thermal Engineering.
- Strong fundamentals in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
- 2+ years of experience in industrial or academic CFD projects.
- Proficiency with Linux environments, parallel computing, and scripting (Python, Bash).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hypersonic flow modeling or space capsule reentry simulations.
- Familiarity with conjugate heat transfer (CHT) and radiation models.
- Knowledge of turbulence modeling (RANS, LES, DES).
- Experience using HPC (high-performance computing) clusters for simulation.
Nature of Work
This is a full-time, onsite position at our Pune office. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams developing advanced space-bound vehicles. The role may also involve contributing to R&D proposals, patents, or publications.
