CFD Engineer

Location: Pune, India (Onsite)

Scope of Work

  • Develop and run CFD simulations for internal and external flows (subsonic to hypersonic regimes).
  • Analyze aerothermal loads on spacecraft, nozzles, ducts, and inlets.
  • Validate simulation results with experimental or flight data.
  • Contribute to aerodynamic shape optimization and TPS (thermal protection system) design.
  • Collaborate with structural, propulsion, and thermal teams to integrate CFD data into multi-physics models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain computational meshes using tools like Pointwise, ANSYS Meshing, or snappyHexMesh.
  • Configure simulation solvers such as Ansys Fluent, Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or SU2.
  • Perform steady-state and transient simulations including compressible, multiphase, and reacting flows.
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis and design-of-experiments (DoE).
  • Document and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria

  • B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Thermal Engineering.
  • Strong fundamentals in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial or academic CFD projects.
  • Proficiency with Linux environments, parallel computing, and scripting (Python, Bash).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hypersonic flow modeling or space capsule reentry simulations.
  • Familiarity with conjugate heat transfer (CHT) and radiation models.
  • Knowledge of turbulence modeling (RANS, LES, DES).
  • Experience using HPC (high-performance computing) clusters for simulation.

Nature of Work

This is a full-time, onsite position at our Pune office. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams developing advanced space-bound vehicles. The role may also involve contributing to R&D proposals, patents, or publications.
