Legal Technical Writer ‐ Jet & Cryogenic Engine Programs
Location: Pune, India (Hybrid Available)
Scope of Work
We are seeking a Legal Technical Writer to support documentation, compliance, and knowledge management for our high-stakes defense propulsion programs involving combat jet and cryogenic engines. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in both technical and legal writing, ensuring accurate and regulatory-compliant representation of proprietary technology, intellectual property, export control, and contractual deliverables.
Nature of Work
- Drafting legal and technical documents including NDAs, IP disclosures, design compliance reports, and regulatory filings
- Supporting legal teams in interpreting export control and ITAR-relevant content in engineering documents
- Collaborating with engineering and R&D teams to transform highly technical data into legally viable documentation
- Ensuring document version control, traceability, and adherence to defense document standards
- Creating and maintaining contract deliverables, operating procedures, and certification documents
- Liaising with external legal advisors and government regulatory bodies when needed
- Contributing to bid proposals, tender documentation, and IP audits
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline. Dual degrees (Law + STEM) preferred.
- 3+ years experience in legal writing, patent documentation, or defense regulatory content
- Understanding of export regulations (ITAR, MTCR, EAR) and national security protocols
- Excellent technical comprehension and legal articulation skills
- Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 documentation frameworks
- Experience in working with technical diagrams, specifications, and contract clauses
- High proficiency in English; additional Indian language proficiency is a plus
Eligibility
- Indian citizens or OCI cardholders eligible to work in India
- Prior experience in aerospace, defense, or government-funded projects preferred
- Security clearance (or willingness to undergo screening) may be required for select documentation
