Technical Director – Combat Jet & Cryogenic Engines Division
Location: Pune, India (Hybrid Leadership Role)
Scope of Work
As Technical Director, you will oversee the complete lifecycle of propulsion programs involving next-generation combat jet engines and cryogenic rocket engines. You will work at the intersection of R&D, strategic planning, and execution, directly influencing national defense and space propulsion capabilities. You will be responsible for defining technical direction, mentoring multi-disciplinary teams, and ensuring program compliance with timelines, budgets, and mission objectives.
Nature of Work
- Lead and manage core engineering teams across turbomachinery, combustion, materials, and control systems
- Guide development and testing of gas turbine and cryogenic systems, from concept to production
- Coordinate with defense and space agencies, certification authorities, and strategic partners
- Drive innovation in FADEC, modular architectures, digital twins, and AI-driven diagnostics
- Mentor project leaders, review critical designs, and chair milestone reviews (PDR, CDR, QSRs)
- Build roadmaps for export-compliant, dual-use propulsion products
- Oversee vendor evaluation, testing strategy, and in-house test infrastructure development
Job Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech with M.E./M.Tech or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Propulsion Engineering
- 15+ years of relevant experience in jet engine or cryogenic propulsion development (military or ISRO programs preferred)
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, turbomachinery design, materials, and combustion science
- Hands-on experience in design reviews, failure investigations, and engine qualification processes
- Exposure to program management tools, TRL assessment, and system-level integration
- Ability to handle confidential strategic technologies and dual-use product compliance
- Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional teams and vendor ecosystems

- Indian nationals with eligibility for defense technology access
- Preference for individuals with DRDO, GTRE, ISRO, or private-sector propulsion program leadership
