Location: Pune, India (Hybrid Available)

Scope of Work

We are seeking a passionate Combustion Analyst to join our multidisciplinary R&D team working on advanced propulsion systems for fighter aircraft and space launch vehicles. This role focuses on the design, simulation, and analysis of combustion chambers in afterburning turbojets and cryogenic upper-stage rocket engines.

Nature of Work

  • Combustion chamber design for supersonic military jets and cryogenic engines
  • Steady and transient CFD simulations of fuel-air mixing, ignition, and flame stabilization
  • Heat release rate and combustion efficiency optimization
  • Prediction and mitigation of thermoacoustic instabilities
  • NOx and soot emissions modeling in gas turbines
  • Injection system design and atomization analysis for cryogenic propellants (LOX/LH2)
  • Collaboration with nozzle designers, materials experts, and thermal analysts
  • Data analysis from hot-fire and rig tests to validate computational models

Job Requirements

  • M.Tech or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, or Thermal Engineering
  • 2–5 years of experience in combustion modeling for propulsion systems
  • Strong proficiency with CFD tools: ANSYS Fluent, CONVERGE CFD, OpenFOAM, or similar
  • Knowledge of combustion chemistry (detailed and reduced mechanisms)
  • Familiarity with reacting flows, turbulence models, and radiation heat transfer
  • Working knowledge of ignition physics and flame dynamics under high pressure
  • Experience with cryogenic propellant behavior and injector design is a plus
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills

Eligibility

  • Indian nationals or individuals authorized to work in India
  • Experience with government-funded aerospace R&D projects preferred
  • Open to research scholars with publications in combustion or propulsion journals
