Failure Analysis Expert – Jet & Cryogenic Engines

Scope of Work

We are seeking a Failure Analysis Expert to lead investigations of component-level and system-level failures in high-performance combat jet engines and cryogenic propulsion systems. You will work closely with design, materials, and operations teams to uncover root causes, propose engineering solutions, and build predictive failure models. Your insights will directly impact safety, reliability, and product improvement cycles for critical propulsion platforms.

Nature of Work

• Conduct detailed root cause analysis of failed engine components
• Interpret metallurgical, fractographic, and non-destructive evaluation data
• Work with FEM tools to simulate failure propagation and loading conditions
• Correlate field and test rig data with structural/mechanical behavior
• Develop robust failure prediction models using statistical or ML-based approaches
• Author detailed reports for internal stakeholders and defense quality audits
• Collaborate with test engineers, materials scientists, and maintenance crews
• Contribute to design feedback loops to mitigate repeat failure modes

Job Requirements

• M.E./M.Tech or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Metallurgy, or Materials Science
• 5+ years of relevant experience in failure analysis of aerospace/cryogenic components
• Hands-on knowledge of SEM, EDS, XRD, microstructural analysis, and NDT methods
• Familiarity with fatigue, creep, oxidation, erosion, and thermal stress failure mechanisms
• Proficiency in CAE tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar)
• Strong technical writing and failure reporting documentation skills
• Experience in defense or space propulsion systems is highly desirable

Eligibility

• Indian citizens or OCI/PIO candidates eligible to work in India
• Experience in ISRO/DRDO/NASA or aerospace OEMs preferred
• Strong ethical and analytical mindset, with a passion for root cause resolution
