Avionics Safety Engineer – Combat Jet & Cryogenic Engines

Location: Bengaluru or Pune, India (Hybrid Available)

Scope of Work

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Safety Engineer to ensure the reliability, integrity, and compliance of avionics and electronic control systems used in advanced combat jet engines and cryogenic propulsion systems. You will play a key role in the design assurance, system safety assessments, and validation of critical avionics including FADEC, sensors, and diagnostic units for flight safety.

Nature of Work

  • Lead safety analysis activities (FMEA, FTA, FHA, HAZOP) for engine control systems and embedded electronics
  • Support development and verification of safety-critical software and hardware (DO-178C, DO-254 standards)
  • Evaluate sensor redundancy, fault detection/isolation, and fail-operational strategies for avionics systems
  • Interface with FADEC developers, flight control teams, and engine systems integrators to ensure safety compliance
  • Contribute to design reviews, qualification testing, and MIL-STD-461/810G environmental compliance programs
  • Establish risk mitigation strategies aligned with ARP4754A and military certification frameworks
  • Prepare and review safety case documentation and assist in audits with regulatory bodies (CEMILAC, DRDO, etc.)

Job Requirements

  • B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Avionics, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in avionics systems safety, preferably in aerospace/defence sectors
  • Strong understanding of DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4761, ARP4754A, and MIL standards
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and safety architectures for turbine engines or rocket engines
  • Experience with modeling tools like SCADE, Simulink, or Modelica is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for documentation and safety case presentation
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams under strict quality and performance requirements

  • Indian nationals or OCI candidates with defense clearance eligibility
  • Strong commitment to indigenous defense and aerospace technology development
  • Prior experience working with DRDO, HAL, ISRO, or Indian military projects is advantageous
