Safety Systems Engineer – Jet & Cryogenic Engines
Location: Pune, India (Hybrid / Onsite Testing Facility)
Scope of Work
We are seeking a Safety Systems Engineer to ensure the safe operation of high-performance combat jet engines and cryogenic propulsion systems. You will be responsible for hazard analysis, safety-critical systems verification, and risk mitigation strategies throughout the engine development lifecycle. The role requires working closely with design, test, and regulatory teams to ensure strict adherence to safety standards and mission assurance protocols.
Nature of Work
- Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) for engine systems
- Develop and review safety plans for test beds, engine modules, and flight operations
- Interface with controls and software teams to validate safety-critical logic (FADEC)
- Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, and AS9100D safety standards
- Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
- Coordinate with cryogenic fuel safety teams for handling, venting, and thermal stress risks
- Collaborate on design-for-safety reviews and validate system redundancies
- Support integrated safety testing campaigns and real-time monitoring systems
Job Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in safety engineering, preferably in aerospace, propulsion, or defense sectors
- Working knowledge of engine architecture (turbofan, turbojet, or cryogenic engines)
- Hands-on experience with tools such as DOORS, ANSYS Safety, or IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management
- Strong understanding of hazard analysis, failure detection systems, and mitigation planning
- Familiarity with high-energy systems, thermal management, and oxygen-enriched environments
- Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
